Getting started
What is a “mess”?
A mess is a shared household or hostel that pools food and bills. One person runs it as the manager; everyone else joins as a member. The app tracks meals, bazar, bills and deposits, then keeps a live ledger so no one argues about who owes what at month-end.
How do I create or join a mess?
Sign in with your Google account. To start fresh, create a mess and follow the short setup wizard (meals, bills, members). To join an existing one, ask its manager for the join code and enter it — your request goes to the manager for approval, and you land straight in once they accept.
Why is my join request “pending”?
Joining is decided by the mess, not automatically granted. If the manager pre-added your email you may be let in instantly; otherwise your request waits for the manager to approve it in their Approvals screen. If it’s declined, you can try a different code.
Meals, bazar & the ledger
How are meals counted?
Each day’s breakfast, lunch and dinner are recorded on a calendar the whole mess shares. Guests and half-meals are included, so the shared food cost always splits fairly across who actually ate.
Why can’t I edit a bill or bazar entry directly?
Only the manager writes records directly. As a member, your add / edit / delete is submitted as a change request the manager approves — you can see all of yours (and withdraw a pending one) under Personal → My requests. This keeps the shared accounting trustworthy.
How is each member’s balance worked out?
The ledger nets everything together: deposits into the shared fund, each bill and expense you’re part of, and your share of the month’s food cost (bazar split by meals eaten). A positive balance means the mess owes you; negative means you owe the mess.
Premium & payments
What does Premium add?
Premium unlocks extras like co-managers, the daily menu override, bazar coordination, a larger member limit and a longer history window. A mess runs fine on the free tier — Premium is for larger or power-user messes.
How do I upgrade?
Managers can buy Premium in the app, or on this website’s Upgrade page. On the web you pay by sending money to a listed mobile-financial-service (bKash/Nagad/etc.) number; we verify the payment before Premium is applied to your mess.
My payment went through but Premium isn’t active yet.
Web payments are checked before Premium is switched on, so there can be a short delay. If it hasn’t applied after a while, email us with your mess name and the payment details and we’ll sort it out.
Account & data
How do I change my name, email or phone?
Edit your profile in the app (Settings). Your details are mirrored into the messes you belong to automatically, usually within a second or two.
How do I leave a mess or delete my account?
You can leave a mess (or, as a manager, transfer the role or delete the mess) in the app. To remove your account and data entirely, see the account-deletion page — it explains exactly what’s removed and what shared mess data may remain.
